Xhengui Xia, Ph.D.

Biosketch Information
Email: zxia@u.washington.edu Dr. Xia has been investigating the role of JNK in arsenite-induced apoptosis in culture neurons. Pesticide-induced alterations in the regulatory dynamics of normal cell proliferation and cell death result in altered CNS morphogenesis. These alterations are correlated with subsequent deficits in learning and development.

Dr. Xia is attempting to define the signal transduction pathway for ERK5 activation in primary culture neurons and the role for the ERK5 pathway in promoting neuronal survival.

Dr. Xia is Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Health, Toxicology Program. She served on NIH MDCN-6 Study Section. From 1999 to 2002 she did research by virtue of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund for New Investigator Award in Toxicology.
